Curly, Son of Gray Cat - Feral Cat Photo of the Day

Curly The Tom Cat
The story begins with the cat we called Gray Cat... Gray Cat was a stray, an outcast. She showed up in the feral colony several years ago, pregnant. She gave birth to 5 kittens, 4 of which were boys!

For no particular reason, we named the boys Larry, Moe, Curly and Shemp. We named the girl Marcie.

Curly, shown here, was a very unusual kitten. While his brothers were tuxedo cats (2) and a tabby, Curly was something else. As a kitten, he looked kind of yellow, but he had very short hair - almost NONE, actually. You could see his skin between the hairs very clearly. He didn't even look like a cat, we thought at the time. Fortunately, he eventually developed a coat as he grew up. Still, his coloring and markings are a bit odd. He's a yellow-brown tiger tabby with a wild look to him.

Anyway, about the rest of his family: Marcie was adopted, thankfully. As for the boys... Over the years, Larry met an unknown fate, Moe grew up to become King of the Colony for a few years... but then he was killed by a car. Shemp and Curly remain.

You can find pictures of Shemp here, if you look around - he's a tuxedo cat.

We don't see a lot of Curly but he's still an interesting-looking tom cat. He's had a few infections and trips to the vet over the years. Overall, though, he seems to be doing fairly well.

We wish the best for Curly - our little tiger.
