Dora And Squeaky Explore

The original title of this photo art piece was Left Behind. But of course, readers of the Feral Life cat blog know that Dora the dilute tortie and her harlequin daughter Squeaky aren't left behind anywhere ....No, instead, for the sake of art, I consider them to be symbolic of all the cats who get left behind as people move on to other things in their lives. That part of the story is truly sad. The symbolic representation, though, is important.

The Calendar is Here! Feral Life 2013

The Feral Life 2013

It's the main thing I do to help feed and provide medical care for the feral cats: The Feral Life photo art calendar. All year, I've been working on this project in the background - finding just the right images for every season and every month.  And it's also true that I'm never really satisfied but at least in this case I feel that The Feral Life 2013 is the best yet.

This year I've found the highest quality printing at the best price point. It's been tough because all the printing services keep jacking up the cost, making my choices somewhat frustrating.. While I will be making a Zazzle version available (the service we used last year, and still my main go-to service for prints and t-shirts) this year's best bet is Lulu.com: They've kind of thrown themselves into trying to be the best there is for calendars and my author's galley print says mission accomplished. It's the best quality glossy heavy art stock paper we've seen since the Redbubble prints, but this one is affordable.

Oh, and another new thing: This calendar has both US and Canadian holidays - plus Feral Cat Day.  Canadian FCRP fans are no longer shortchanged. I'm really happy about that.

Please check it out, and if you have any problems let me know. This is a new printer for me and while the calendars are the best yet, I don't really know how well they're going to be with customer service, etc. So let me know!

The more adventurous among our little family on the Internet could consider submitting product reviews/stars - it helps. And everyone, I hope you'll share this calendar far and wide! See it: The Feral Life Photo Cat Calendar 2013.

No Reason Just Art, Cat

Just for something different.... it's art, that's all. Nothing important. I spent a lot of years striving for recognition as a fine art painter and photographer, so the conclusions I've reached about art are hard-won. The cats and I have about the same situation, really. They have some fans (thank you!) ...and then mostly the world just doesn't care at all. Which is why we have so many homeless kitties.

Of course, that's the way of the world;  Looking back we've touched on sorrowful days - Future pass, they disappear ...That's the way of the world. Plant your flower and you grow a pearl. - A child is born with a heart of gold, The way of the world makes his heart grow cold.  From the the now-ancient Earth, Wind & Fire song.

The way of the world is, we mostly have things figured out only when it's too late - and the world doesn't really care. It's the same for us all.

For you...

Way of The World,
by Earth, Wind & Fire

Hearts of fire creates love desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong
Hearts of fire creates love desire
High and higher to your place on the throne

We've come together on this special day
To sing our message loud and clear
Looking back we've touched on sorrowful days
Future pass, they disappear

You will find peace of mind
If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don't hesitate 'cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart 'cause you're never (never, never, ..) old at heart

That's the way of the world
Plant your flower and you grow a pearl
A child is born with a heart of gold
The way of the world makes his heart grow cold

Hearts of fire creates love desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong

We've come together on this special day
To sing our message loud and clear
Looking back we've touched on sorrowful days
Our future disappear

You will find peace of mind
If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don't hesitate 'cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart 'cause you never, never, never yeaaaaa....

That's the way of the world
Plant you flowers and you grow a pearl
Child is born with a heart of gold
Way of the world makes his heart so cold
