Kittens From Different Litters - Feral Cat Photo of the Day

Kittens of All Ages

Feral kittens from different litters huddling together. Most of them are not feeling very well lately. Here we see them with "colds" but still in decent enough shape to run away if approached. But this photo was taken a few days ago. Since then, the middle kitten - a siamese-like baby - became so ill that it gave up eating. It had to be rescued.

This is the kitty I mentioned in the previous post that is now on antibiotics. If all goes well, I will post the results.

Feral Kittens Cat Photos Of The Day - Queen and Litter of Kittens

Queen Mom and Kittens

Some previously-seen kittens get captured with mom ...or at least one of the queens that is still taking care of them. They are lucky babies...

We've seen many kittens younger than these left to try to survive on their own. It's just part of the hard life of being a feral cat. But this mother is very dedicated. Here is another picture...

Feral Kittens Photo Of The Day - Two Tuxedo Kittens, Friends

2 Tuxedo Kitten Friends

Two little black and white "tuxedo" kitten friends gaze at each other, perhaps wondering what this whole life thing is all about. They are so cute, they remind me of tiny panda bears.

These two are part of a larger group of kittens recently discovered in the feral colony. The two tuxedo kittens are probably litter-mates but the others may be from a different but closely related litter that has been combined with theirs.

More pictures of the tuxedo kittens and their little friends after the jump...

Feral Kittens Pic of the Day - Two Little Feral Kittens Part 2

Two Feral Kittens

In our last episode we saw two little feral kittens just learning about the world, looking around in wonderment at it all.

Now, just days later, we see these two feral kittens clinging to each other for warmth, and perhaps out of some fear. It seems that mom has abandoned them now. Such is the harsh life of the feral kitten. They must find food on their own. They must try to stay away from predators. The hard road has begun...

Feral Kittens -More!

two feral kittens photo
More feral kittens have recently been revealed. These little guys are probably around 5 weeks old or so. I wish I could capture these little guys and turn them into pets!

BTW, I know posting has been sparse lately. At this time of year I'm out trying to do something with my life and my art - shows 'n stuff. The feral cats still get fed twice a day and sick kitties go to the vet when they can be caught. The whole feral cat rescue project keeps moving along.

If I can't be there, I arrange for someone to do the cat-care duties for me. But mostly it's just me. I just haven't had a lot of time for photos lately. Just remember that the work goes on whether you see pictures or not!

Feral Kittens of The Day - 2-Day Old Kittens

Two 2-day old feral kittens asleep
Kittens, asleep in each others' paws. In this photo - two 2-day old kittens sleeping quietly while mom is off hunting or whatever. They are so cute!

So far, momma cat seems to be taking care of these babies; they appear clean and well-fed. Who knows what the future holds for them? Being a feral kitten is a tough life. These kittens are in a colony of feral cats near a dairy farm. I trap and spay/neuter the adults and feed them all.

The queen mother of these two is pictured here - she's young and this is her first litter. I'm just sorry I missed getting her in a previous trapping session. Although the kittens are cute enough be break your heart, the real heartbreak is the horrible lives they face as ferals. So it's a real hard choice for cat lovers.

I'll just keep trying to do my best for these kitties.

Photo 2 Spring Feral Kittens

two spring feral kittens photo

These kittens are about 6 weeks old - at least that's my guess. The little black and white tuxedo kitty is the only one I've been able to catch and handle so far. I'd like to keep it but I can't. It's turning kind of friendly and it's extra-interesting because it has basically no tail. There is a wide variety of cats in the feral colony but this is the first black and white bobtail I've found.

The other kitten in this pair is a cute little tortoise shell patchy cat, almost certainly a girl. (Helpful hint; when there are three or more colors, it's a girl).

Feral Kittens Of The Day Jan 1, 2009

Four little kittens, huddled together for warmth. It's pretty tough for feral cats at this time of year...
Feral Kittens huddle together for warmth. Don't you want to help them?

You can barely see two of them! Because I'm at my absolute limit for cats I can take-in, I can't do much for these little guys except try to make sure they get some food and hopefully I will be able to trap them at some point so they can get spayed/neutered. There is always more to do than one person can handle.
