February 2022 Cat of the Month Calendar Wallpaper - Bodhi

Bodhi cat is a busy, friendly boy. Right after this he climbed up on my shoulders so he could supervise while I took other pictures. He's very sweet and he's also our Cat of the Month!

The calendar wallpaper above is in the 16x10 ratio, like you find on Macbooks, iMacs and MS Surface tablets, plus many others, but I have the wider HD 16x9 format (used by many "HD" laptops and monitors) in the link below, along with  4x3 "TV" ratio and TWO mobile versions: One for phones and another for tablets! One of them will fit your computer or mobile device, for sure. Here's the link:

For how to use, refer to this postThank you so for sharing and supporting these beautiful feral cats.  Because of you, good things happen. You make the difference.

Spot & Nano

Nano the black cat doesn't really like cats. But Spot the harlequin won her over.
Spot is just too sweet and adorable to resist. Nano doesn't show up too well in this very low-light photo, but she's there. If you knew how cranky she can be, this is amazing.

Sheldon and Spot Chewy Nap

Sharing a Chewy box for a nap - Sheldon and Spotty - happy cats who have no idea how hard I work to keep them happy and well fed.

Man #cat Mort

Mort is a gorgeous and sweet harlequin boy who is getting toward middle aged at this point. Rescued as a very sick feral kitten, for whatever reason he never found a home of his own so he's here with us, and he helps....

Mort is very attentive to rescue kittens, and he helps tame and socialize them. He hunts mice for other feral cats, and he protects small cats from bullies.

Mort is a feral cat ANGEL. And we love him.

Sheldon Siamese

Sheldon is a lovely girl. Yes a girl. We thought she was a boy when she was rescued as a kitten and when we found out that we were wrong we kept the name anyway.

Sheldon is a wanderer, a shoulder-rider, a tail wagger. Because of the wandering thing she really should be kept indoors. She's an adoptable sweety.

Katniss

The slightly larger sister of Dot from a few days ago, Katniss is very affectionate but suffers from terrible flea allergies. I try to keep up with her but she would be so much better off with a home of her own.

Dot cat

A watch cat. A shoulder-rider. Tiny (for her age) Dot is a pretty tabby who hasn't been adopted due to her shyness around strangers.

Peanut - Adoptable Tabby Kitten

Peanut, friendly adoptable tabby kitten
Peanut is an adorable little tabby kitten. She is about 8 months old, is spayed and has had shots. The cutest thing about Peanut is how she purrs so loudly when she sees you. She's a very happy girl.

Peanut should have a home! It's the only way to save her from the feral life. So if you can, please consider her...

Katniss the Kitty Cat

How could you resist this face?  This post introduces Katniss, our newest rescue cat. She was once a very sick feral kitten, but she's feeling much better now. She's been spayed and had her shots - and is very adoptable. I think she's very colorful for a basic tabby cat, don't you?

Katniss is an affectionate girl. This is a big contrast to when she was rescued. For quite some time she was terrified of people. But then she learned that we're okay after all. Now, many adoptable kitties end up not getting adopted, so they have to hang out here with the ferals. It's not the worst thing that could happen, but a loving home is so much better!

Kitten Party: Sheldon and Mini-Sheldon

Sheldon, the former feral kitten who is now available for adoption (bottom) meets Mini-Sheldon, a feral kitten who might be captured and tamed. They're both sole-survivors of their respective litters, so they have both probably been longing for another kitten to play with. And this is their opportunity. Let the games begin!
"Finally, somebody like me!" ....Mini Sheldon leaps over Sheldon and a chase ensues.

Kittens love to play games, and I've done my best to keep Sheldon entertained. But there is no substitute for another kitten, really. There is so much stalking to do, and play fighting....

Everyone had a good time!  It's too bad it had to end. The thing is, I don't know if I can handle another kitten. It's hard enough to find homes as it is. But for a short time, two kittens got to have pretend litter-mates, and that was a good thing I guess.

Sheldon Sleeps

Sheldon Sleeps
Sheldon is a bright, active and adoptable former feral kitten. He loves people and he loves to play. Right now, though, he needs his nap.

This little kitten is a lucky one - the only survivor of his litter - and he was scooped up an tamed, becoming the perfect little pet. I hope he has a home of his own, someday.

Adoptable Sheldon

Cute and adorable, Sheldon is maybe 9 weeks old or so, I'm not sure. He's a rescued former feral and the sole survivor of his litter. He's not as talkative as many Siamese-ish kitties are, but he certainly purrs a lot! And loudly: You can hear Sheldon purr from the next room.

I'm pretty picky about kitties getting safe homes, but if you think you measure up, message me - Sheldon is adoptable.

Rescue Siamese Kitten Sheldon

Rescue Siamese Kitten

With a pretty Siamese-ish look and a people-loving personality, our latest rescue kitten is sure to get a home, right? We've tentatively named him Sheldon. Just because.

This kitty is very playful and active. I wish he had a playmate. Kind of... that would mean that I had yet another kitten to find a home for, so that's not really a good thing. Fortunately he seems perfectly happy to chase a toy or wrestle with fingers.

Georgia Sun and Shade

Tortie cat Georgia half in sun, half in shade
Not the state, but the pretty tortie cat named Georgia. Here she has found herself a spot where she can be half in the sun and half in the shade. She was just rolling around on the grass having a good time, enjoying her life. I just happened to catch her between rolls.

Georgia is tame, basically speaking. We had her up for adoption as a kitten but when there were no takers she just ended up staying here with us. It's not the good life that a beloved pet might have but it's better than many cats.

With Abundant Curiosity

With Abundant Curiosity
Looking ahead to the future, what comes next ..what's out there: It's Georgia the tortie cat, who always evidences an abundance of curiosity. Wow, this is a post that's just full of words I can't spell. :)

Georgia is the daughter of dilute tortie Dora the Explorer - and from kittenhood she was always the most curious, busy kitten. She was named Curious Georgia for that reason! Dora and Georgia have both been spayed, of course, and now Georgia and her mother are best friends; more like sisters than mother-daughter. Anytime you see Georgia, Dora will probably be within a couple of feet, too.

Adopt Bai, Kitten White and Bright

Bai
This is Bai ..his name means White as in white tiger. Bai is about 8 weeks old. He's learning new things everyday. One of the first things he learned was that people are nice, after all. He loves to be held and petted. He is very fond of his cat food and tries to hog it all... typical for a boy. He's learning some social graces, though.

I didn't even know for sure if he was a boy or girl when I rescued little Bai. He was maybe 5 weeks old and very sick. To his credit, he knew he wanted to be rescued. There were some long nights involved and some awful-tasting medicine, but we got through it. Now Bai is a bright, healthy, happy and very active medium-hair blue-eyed  fawn-tipped white kitty.

Bai is big-boned, in my opinion. I think he's going to grow up to be a very large white tomcat. But he needs a home of his own. Please help Bai find a loving and safe home.

Meet Tabby Kitten Penny

Penny, adoptable tabby kitten is looking for a home
This is Penny, a rescued tabby kitten who is about 8 weeks old. She wasn't in very good shape when she was captured but with a lot of vet work she's now looking healthier and happier. Penny was a beneficiary of the new trap system provided by Etsy Artists for Animals, as I mentioned in a previous post.

Penny has a pretty laid-back personality and is very comfortable in most situations. Her big eyes and her great personality make her a fine candidate for adoption. So please consider this. Penny needs you.

There are a couple of others, too! But we don't really know for sure how they're doing yet. I'll let you know.

Tortie Cat Macro Version

Georgia The Tortie Cat
It's cute, bright, independent-minded Georgia the tortie cat, thinking about something or another - like, what game to play next.

It wasn't a cat-picture expedition: I was out taking some macro images of plants and insects, like the one below....
Butterfly
I've found that macro photography has given me a new appreciation of the small things in this world; things I never gave a second thought or sometimes even noticed. But now I do. While doing my macro world expedition, Georgia was there looking cute enough that I wanted to capture her. I didn't take the time to remove my macro extension so this is what you get.

I'm happy with it, anyway.

Oh, Fran

Fran the siamese former feral cat pet
Looking like she has things on her mind - and maybe like things aren't going the way she wishes at the moment, it's Fran the Former Feral and Siamese-ish rescue.

Fran has accepted her life here and gets some regular petting and special food. It's not quite the same as having a home just for her, but it's not terrible. I always remind people: Adopt when you can. If you can't, maybe you can provide moral support for those who care for mixed cat colonies. And there are many, not just me!

Anyway, Fran has been seen on this blog a LOT, from tiny feral kitten, to rescue, to adoption attempts and right through to today. She's even been a cat rescuer, herself! We've seen her here enough that she even has her own Tag or "Label" (although I don't always remember to use it). She's a star, here, and if she put some effort into it she could probably write this blog herself!  We love Fran.

The World Is Brand New

a tiny tabby feral kitten
For the tiniest tabby feral kitten, the world is brand new. It's full of things that never happened before; full of new discoveries and adventure.

I would like to find a home for tiny tabby, but I know that all the local rescue organizations are overrun with kittens. There just aren't enough homes. It's sad. Many of those other kittens probably won't find homes, either. I delude myself with hope.

They melt your heart, but they also make you cry.... cry because I can't give them what would be best for them - a loving home. You do have to wonder, sometimes, why life has to be so hard, so uncaring. The longer I work with feral cats and kittens, the more I wonder about this.

Tiniest tabby is a girl, by the way, and she has a black bobtail brother.
A fantasy of mine is for them to get a loving home together. But that's silly. It's like dreaming of winning the lottery. However, sometimes hope is all we have.
