Sheldon's Contemplation

Enjoying some supervised outdoor time, Sheldon contemplates life. Once a feral kitten who needed to be rescued. Sheldon never got adopted out for some reason, so we're here, enjoying life.

Contemplation

Brown tabby torbie cat contemplates the meaning of life
Brown tabby-torbie cat contemplates the meaning of life...or maybe she's just trying to catch a little nap. Such a sweet face.

Torbie Mid Scratch

I was hoping she would pose nicely for me, but she had other things on her mind. This was the closest I could get to the photo I wanted. At least we had one short break in the weather so I could take this picture today.

You know, I think I gave this girl a name a couple of years ago, but now I don't remember it! I have trouble keeping track of things sometimes. Anyone else remember what I called her?

Just A Tabby Tom

Just a tabby tom cat, tomcat
Just a tabby tom cat, thinking about stuff. He's kind of keeping an eye on me, too, but his mind might be elsewhere. I took this photo a couple of hours before the evening feeding, so maybe he's wondering if it's time for the next meal, yet. Pretty soon...

Yes, he's just a tabby tomcat, a little rough around the edges, and there are many more just like him. Just a tabby tom, with a life to live; with his own hopes and wishes and dreams; living his life as best he can. Just a tabby tom, nothing special... except that he is what he is; he is himself - a sentient being with a heart and soul.

Just a tabby tom. One small life, who happens to be a part of our feral family.

Cute Little Hammie Face

It's cute, adorable Hamster "Hammie" the Cat, brother of Lucy - both of whom are bob tails!  So he's not so little anymore, but if you poke around long enough on the blog, you might find Hammie as a kitten.

I haven't posted in a while. I've had the flu ...or something that gave me a 103 F fever for the last week and a half. It's been rough. All through that, we had cold and wind and snow and I had to do stuff anyway. I thought it was going to kill me, but I'm still here!  Anyway, sorry for not having any snow pictures. I just couldn't manage.

A Feral Cat-Face

Such a cute face. I can't remember who this is, though. She looks a lot like Hipstamatic but I think it's actually Hipstamatic's sister, Half-Tail. In any case, she has very pretty eyes.  (posted on Flickr).

We had some cold dry weather and now we're back to rain. At least it's a little warmer. The feral cats don't really like to eat in the rain though, and I only have limited shelter spots in which to feed them. We manage, though.

Another Day, Another Torbie

Torbie Feral Cat
Half-sibling, I think, to the previous torbie. We've seen this one on the blog a couple of times. She's a very pretty cat. If anyone is thinking of adopting a kitten, I have a couple including a tabby and an almost pure white little tom. You'll get pictures eventually. And of course there are the adoptable adults like Dora and Georgia. I need some good news. :)

No Reason Just Art, Cat

No Reason, It's Just Art
Just for something different.... it's art, that's all. Nothing important. I spent a lot of years striving for recognition as a fine art painter and photographer, so the conclusions I've reached about art are hard-won. The cats and I have about the same situation, really. They have some fans (thank you!) ...and then mostly the world just doesn't care at all. Which is why we have so many homeless kitties.

Of course, that's the way of the world;  Looking back we've touched on sorrowful days - Future pass, they disappear ...That's the way of the world. Plant your flower and you grow a pearl. - A child is born with a heart of gold, The way of the world makes his heart grow cold.  From the the now-ancient Earth, Wind & Fire song.

The way of the world is, we mostly have things figured out only when it's too late - and the world doesn't really care. It's the same for us all.

For you...

Way of The World,
by Earth, Wind & Fire

Hearts of fire creates love desire
Take you high and higher to the world you belong
Hearts of fire creates love desire
High and higher to your place on the throne

We've come together on this special day

To sing our message loud and clear
Looking back we've touched on sorrowful days
Future pass, they disappear

You will find peace of mind

If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don't hesitate 'cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart 'cause you're never (never, never, ..) old at heart

That's the way of the world

Plant your flower and you grow a pearl
A child is born with a heart of gold
The way of the world makes his heart grow cold

Hearts of fire creates love desire

Take you high and higher to the world you belong

We've come together on this special day

To sing our message loud and clear
Looking back we've touched on sorrowful days
Our future disappear

You will find peace of mind

If you look way down in your heart and soul
Don't hesitate 'cause the world seems cold
Stay young at heart 'cause you never, never, never yeaaaaa....

That's the way of the world

Plant you flowers and you grow a pearl
Child is born with a heart of gold
Way of the world makes his heart so cold

Frankie Cat, Ol' Blue Eyes

Frankie Cat Old Blue Eyes portrait
I don't know why we haven't had a portrait of this cat before. He's the original blue-eyed rescue kitten, no longer a kitten of course; it's Frank Sinatra, aka Frankie, aka "Old Blue Eyes" - the reason he got that name in the first place.

The oft-photographed Fran (2) got her name because of him, although they're not directly related. (Well, Frankie plus Cat Lady Fran from Alberta). His face coloring is different from Fran, though.

Frankie is the adoptive brother of Tabitha and Gort, all were half-grown kittens about the time I started this blog, and even before when I talked about feral cats on my art site.

Frankie is now enormous... giant ...ginormous ...and he's still friendly (although very shy) despite having to spend most of his life outdoors.

Anyway, I wanted a blue-eyed cat for my cat eyes tee shirt collection ... I hope you're enjoying those. I've been trying to catch Fran sitting still long enough and finally yesterday I got the shot I wanted!

Fran, you may recall, had a bad eye when she was rescued as a kitten. We got her through all that and saved the eye but she does still look a little uneven and always will. While I was contemplating that fact, Frankie came along. He doesn't come up to me all that often so it was a welcome surprise. Being the dummy that I am, it took a minute to sink in, "oh, Frankie has blue eyes too!" and I caught this picture just in time.  Frankie's eyes are a lighter blue than Fran - and each got a t-shirt of his/her own. (see near the bottom of the page) I know it's silly but I was proud of myself for finally thinking of the obvious.

Mission accomplished.
