A rare Hipstamatic view of Gadget the Fearless Feral, twin sister of the more often-photographed but equally fearless Coppertop.  There is something in their genes that makes them, effectively, pets; they just aren't afraid.

Gadget the Fearless Feral enjoys a Snakey Mouse. This was her first opportunity with this homemade cat toy and she found it very interesting. We now have 3 of them to work with, courtesy of CatCalls (the designer/creator of Snakey Mice).

Sometimes I confuse Gadget with her twin sister Coppertop, but in this case I'm pretty sure that we're looking at Gadget ...although I could be wrong.

Gadget is definitely looking at us, however. Those who have followed these posts are aware, Gadget and Coppertop were feral kittens who tamed themselves: they are naturally fearless and friendly. They would probably even make good pets - with some box training and love.

Gadget Glamour Shot - Feral Cat Photo of the Day

Gadget is a fearless kitty, even more so than her sister and near lookalike Coppertop.
Truthfully, when I took this picture, I thought I was getting a nice close-up of Coppertop. But when I studied it before posting, I realized that it was actually Gadget! They are very similar: Coppertop has a little more white on her chin than Gadget but that's about it.

She's a pretty girl, anyway, so I decided to share with you - even if we are getting a Gadget overload. :)

She's an interesting cat we've blogged about before - read her story. She seems to have little natural fear. Even as a tiny feral kitten she would wander from her family and walk right up to people. That's just how she is.

Gadget The Cat, Orange-Ginger Feral Cat Photo of the Day

Gadget is the litter-mate of Copper-top, the fear-free feral cat posted a few photos back... they look so similar that I often get them confused: Gadget has just a little less white around her mouth than Coppertop. Like her sister, Gadget seems to be low on the fear quotient, although perhaps a bit more jumpy. But not much. She'll still wander into a car when the door is left open. She'll sit on the seat and ride, too. Odd for a feral cat. Or almost any cat, actually.

Feral Cat Of The Day - Gadget the Orange Tabby

This kitty is part of the feral colony, I've named her Gadget. She's middle-aged at this point, reasonably well-fed and lazy.

She had her visit to the vet several years ago and she started chunking-up after that. This orange tabby is peaceful and very smart. She'll climb in my car if I let her. And she's perfectly capable of figuring out how to open containers, turn knobs, and do other non-cat things. Her unusual personality makes her more semi-feral than actual feral.
